Judge Strikes Down Mayor’s Veto

A Bucks County Judge has invalidated the Mayor’s Christmas Eve veto of the Borough’s annual Tax Levy Ordinance.  Bucks County Judge Clyde Waite invalidated the Mayor’s veto citing the Tax Ordinance as being legally compliant under state law.  Judge Waite issued a Court Order making the Tax Ordinance valid and effective on the date it was adopted by Borough Council–December 17, 2018.  The Tax Levy Ordinance is adopted annually to set millage rates for the levy of property taxes.  The Tax Levy Ordinance sets the millage rates for 2019 property taxes.  Borough Council adopted its annual budget early, balanced, and with no property tax increase for 2019.
